Acer is the first PC gaming company to officially announce the launch of a desktop computer using Intel’s 12th-generation “Alder Lake” desktop processor. But don’t expect to find one in the near future. The Acer Predator Orion 7000 will be launched in China, Europe, the Middle East and Africa in the first quarter of 2022, and in the United States in the second quarter of 2022.
Although Predator will use the existing Nvidia GeForce RTX 3080 and 3090 graphics cards, many other technologies will be new. Acer will use up to 64GB of DDR5 RAM at 4,000 MHz (today’s PCs use DDR4), and the company describes this computer as “PCIe Gen 5 support”, although it will be equipped with up to two 1TB M.2 PCIe 4.0 NVMe SSD, there is also a hot-swappable 2.5-inch hard drive bay next to it.
Acer uses its own Predator FrostBlade 2.0 fan, with a pair of 140mm trimmers and a 120mm exhaust device on the front. Although it may not ship in all configurations, the top of the device we saw at the UK event had a 240mm AIO.
The 19.8 x 19 x 8.6 inch chassis adopts a tool-free design. The case fan, water cooler pump, and motherboard provide a lot of ARGB lighting. You will be able to see colored lights through the tempered glass side panels.
There are three USB 3.2 Gen 1 Type-A ports, one USB 3.2 Gen 1 Type-C port and a pair of audio jacks on the front. The back includes three USB 3.2 Gen 2 Type-A ports, one USB 3.2 Gen 2×2 Type-C, two USB 2.0 ports and three other audio jacks.
It is also running Windows 11We will see what the new scheduler does for Alder Lake when it is released.
The US pricing of Predator Orion 7000 has not yet been announced, but it starts at 2,199 Euros in Europe and 20,000 RMB in China.
Acer also released a Predator Gaming desktop with a 55-inch desktop, as well as a mouse pad that covers the entire desktop, a cup holder, a headphone hook, and a strange bracket for holding a disc and possible game controller. The desk is only available in Europe, the Middle East and Africa, but the price has not yet been determined.
