DICE details Battlefield 2042 system requirements

Tweet by Dice System requirements for “Battlefield 2042” to be launched earlier today. The announcement was made a few days before the first beta version of the game, which is scheduled to take place from October 6th to October 9th. The public beta that anyone can actually play will be shortened by two days, only running from October 7th to 9th.

For today’s AAA version, these requirements themselves are very standard. In terms of software, the 64-bit version of Windows 10 is mandatory. For hardware, the minimum CPU recommendation lists a 6-core Ryzen 5 3600 or a 4-core Core i5-6600K CPU, although we suspect that most AMD Zen series CPUs are still sufficient. For graphics, Nvidia’s GeForce GTX 1050 Ti (Pascal) or AMD Radeon RX 560 (Polaris) is required. If you buy these products in the market, please check our The most suitable CPU for gaming with Best graphics card Choose the best experience.

The recommended system requirements have increased significantly. They include at least an 8-core AMD Ryzen 7 2700X, or, strangely, a 4-core Intel Core i5-4790 CPU. DICE recommends using Nvidia GeForce RTX 3060 (12GB GDDR6) or AMD Radeon RX 6600 XT (8 GB). Interestingly, the original RTX 2060 seems to be excluded because of its “only” 6GB of VRAM.

Unfortunately, DICE did not disclose which game settings these requirements apply to, which precludes us from being able to gather more information about the expected optimization level and overall performance. Another obvious omission is that the game does not provide ray tracing as a graphics option. Although some features have been implemented in Battlefield V, DICE chose to skip this feature altogether. However, both Nvidia Reflex (used to reduce latency) and DLSS will be integrated into the game.
