Microsoft released a new Windows 11 Insider preview for development and beta channels. Build 22000.168 Some new features have been added to the operating system, including new widgets for Microsoft 365 apps, Microsoft Store updates, and some bug fixes.
The new Microsoft 365 widget is the highlight of this update. It provides related updates from Office 365 applications, such as recently used documents, news, and meeting recordings, all of which come from the widgets page of Windows 11. The goal is to get relevant information quickly, without having to browse through large amounts of documents or other data. The application is currently limited to documents, news, and meetings, but Microsoft promises that as more updates arrive, it will provide more features in the future.
The only major disadvantage is its exclusivity to business users. You need to log in to your Azure Active Directory (ADD) account to use this widget. Microsoft has not specified whether this widget will be available to Microsoft account owners in the future.
Microsoft has also added support for multiple languages in the Microsoft Team Chat application. The list is very extensive and now supports more than 50 languages.
For Dev channel users, the Microsoft Store has received a new update that completely changes the entire library UI through simpler navigation and faster performance. In addition, the Spotlight design update for the promotional products on the homepage allows you to get a sneak peek.
Microsoft promised to roll out Store updates to the Beta channel once it confirmed that there was no major error preventing the Beta channel from being released.
This update also addresses several bug fixes, including the following:
- search: The pen can now launch the application from the search results page.
- set up: Typing certain phrases in the search box will no longer crash the settings application.
- small tools: Although there are activities available to display, the family widget should no longer accidentally show you the “Connect a device to view screen time activity” message.
- Chat from Microsoft Teams: Solved the issue that the video playback would freeze or the screen would be black during a video call. And switching between calls should no longer automatically hold the previous call.
