Valve Steam Deck: How to book

Valve announces the launch of its portable PC game console Steam deckAlthough the device starts at US$399 and will be shipped in December, it can be pre-ordered from today (Friday, July 16).

This is not a standard pre-order. You won’t put the money down now and then ship the goods. Instead, you are waiting in line.

Valve’s reservation system will be open at 1:00 PM EST / 10:00 AM Pacific time On Steam, You must log in with your Steam account to keep one of the three different configurations. For this, you need to pay a fee of $5 to show that you are serious about the purchase intention.

In order to prevent dealers and scalpers from obtaining limited inventory, Valve has set up some protective fences. Before Sunday, July 18, only those who purchased something on Steam before June 2021 can make a reservation. In addition, each customer can only book one handheld device.

After the reservation is completed, you will enter the virtual production line of inventory, and the inventory will be sold at the time of production. “Once the stock is available, you will receive an email for the reservation order,” Valveā€™s FAQ says.

You will be charged in full only when it is available and checking out. After that, a fee of $5 will be included in the final purchase price.

Currently, you can only book on the Steam platform in the US, UK, EU, and Canada.
