Assembly and accessories of Viotek GFI27DBXA
Viotek has definitely improved the quality of its bracket with GFI27DBXA and the ultra-wide model we recently reviewed. Viotek GNV30CBXAThe column and base are made of metal structure, and plastic is only used for decoration and finish. The cast aluminum base is fixed on the column with a captive bolt. Then you snap the panel into place. Alternatively, you can use an aftermarket mount with a 100 mm VESA lug pattern on the back. You need to purchase your own bolts for this.
The power supply is built-in, so you can get an IEC power cord and a DisplayPort cable for video.
Product 360: Viotek GFI27DBXA
Viotek adheres to the simple shape of GFI27DBXA, with a thin flush frame on the front. The image frame is only 9 mm, and there is a 16 mm border at the bottom with the Viotek logo. The column has a little red decoration in the cable hole, which is the only thing that can explain the game’s intention of the display.
The back is decorated with a larger Viotek logo, and it tapers smoothly from side to side. The grills visible in the picture above may seem to contain speakers, but unfortunately, they do not.You can plug in an active device or your The best gaming headset Plug into the 3.5 mm audio jack below. Viotek GFI27DBXA transmits sound through HDMI and DisplayPort connections.
Viotek equips the GFI27DBXA with a rock-solid stand, which is very firm in action. You can get 5.1 inches of height adjustment, rotate 45 degrees to both sides, tilt -5/15 degrees and 90 degree portrait mode. On the right is the only control button of the display, a small joystick, which can perform all the functions of the on-screen display (OSD) menu and act as a power switch. The status is reported by a bright blue LED. You can’t see it when you look at the monitor screen, but it will cast a soft light on your desktop.
The input panel is located in the expected position below the center of the panel. There are two DisplayPort 1.4 ports and an HDMI 2.0 connector, as well as a 3.5 mm audio jack. The USB port shown in the picture is for maintenance only; peripheral devices are not supported.
OSD function of Viotek GFI27DBXA
The OSD of Viotek GFI27DBXA looks familiar, mainly because it is the same as the OSD we found in GNV30CBXA, but with the addition of HDR support. On the right side of each OSD screen, you can see the current input signal resolution and refresh rate.
The first is the picture menu with brightness and contrast sliders, DCR (dynamic contrast) and ECO, which are six picture modes. Standard is the default and best choice, but some adjustments are needed to get the best image.
DCR works well in HDR mode, and it effectively increases the dynamic range by more than five times. In SDR mode, it is very suitable for games, it really makes the picture popular. But in Windows, the dynamic contrast function is too bright, and you cannot adjust the brightness or contrast to compensate.
The display has three color temperature presets and user modes. The RGB slider can effectively create a nearly perfect D65 color temperature. However, they should be used with caution. Each click will make a major change to the color balance.no Gamma Preset, but fortunately, the default brightness curve is almost accurate.
Switching to HDR mode requires several steps; although there is an automatic option in the HDR submenu, it is not completely automatic. After applying the HDR signal, you must turn on HDR, set the brightness to 100, and then enable DCR. This is inconvenient, but the reward is worth it. Viotek GFI27DBXA provides very good HDR pictures.
The response time is Viotek’s super-speed drive, and its realization is perfect. In each operating mode, including HDR and adaptive synchronization, it eliminates all traces of motion blur, without even the slightest ghosting artifacts. This is one of the best overloads we have seen.
To access game aids, you can click the crosshairs up or the timer down. You cannot use both at the same time, the timer is the only timer with three position options. The aiming point is always in the center of the screen.
Viotek GFI27DBXA calibration settings
The standard mode of Viotek GFI27DBXA provides a good starting point for calibration. All three fixed color temperatures do not meet the standard. Cool and Normal are too blue, and Warm is too red. Before you make some changes to the RGB values, the user is too blue.
Please note that there is no RGB SDR mode. DCI-P3 is the first choice for all color spaces. Fortunately, due to some adjustments made by Viotek, it does not look exaggerated. We will show you what that is on page 3.
The following are our recommended settings for Viotek GFI27DBXA and SDR. Gamma tracking is very good and provides a good foundation for the huge color gamut.
|Brightness 200 nits||28|
|Brightness 120 nits||8|
|Brightness 100 nits||5 (minimum 85 nights)|
|Color temperature user||Red 44, green 44, blue 41|
HDR is a fixed mode, but fortunately, it is very accurate.
Use Viotek GFI27DBXA for games and practice
Viotek GFI27DBXA impressed us from the very beginning. Nevertheless, we did the calibration first, and the picture has been significantly improved. We strongly recommend using the calibration settings above or making your own adjustments; it is worth it.Colors in Windows 10 It looks very dynamic, and the relatively low contrast is not a factor. The very accurate gamma value of the monitor is mainly responsible for this situation. Text-based applications are easy to read, with clearly presented fonts and detailed graphics and icons. At our usual brightness setting of 200 nits, the screen is also very comfortable to the eyes.
You can use the DCR dynamic contrast function in Windows, but it will become too bright to improve work efficiency, and there is no brightness slider or contrast control when DCR is turned on. Thankfully, although there is no detailed editing.
However, gamers will want to turn on DCR.The extra dynamic range and large color gamut greatly enhance the gameplay in various scenarios tomb Raider. Viotek managed to add a lot of extra colors to GFI27DBXA without making it look cartoonish. The sRGB mode would be great for purists, but honestly, we suspect that most players will care.
When we used HDR mode for a few hours, this impressive image quality continued Call of Duty: World War II. We have seen many cheap displays that support HDR, but for 320 USD It can be done like Viotek GFI27DBXA. Even if there is an automatic option in the OSD, the monitor needs to perform several steps to switch modes, but the effort is worth it. HDR colors look very vivid and lifelike. The shadows are deep and detailed, and the highlights appear suddenly.This is one of them The best HDR display With the edge array backlight we have seen.
The video processing is obviously better than what we experienced from Viotek’s GNV30CBXA. It should not be assumed that all displays of a company will respond in the same way. Viotek GFI27DBXA’s overload is the best, absolutely no ghosting or softness. Although some other 27-inch QHD monitors have lower input lag, we cannot feel any lag during playback. The motion is always smooth and sharp, with excellent motion resolution. Adaptive-Sync works perfectly on PCs equipped with AMD graphics cards and PCs equipped with Nvidia cards (see FreeSync and G-Sync).our Radeon RX 5700 XT and Tencent 3090The equipped PC managed to keep the frame rate at or close to 180 frames per second (fps). This is the best point of performance in operation.
After playing for a few afternoons, we may have found a new budget favorite in Viotek GFI27DBXA. It provides a better gaming experience than products at the same price.
